Talk Story With Me...

I am a woman on a mission, who happens to live in Hawai’i, who loves people, and loves to serve the community. Pursuing my research on women's leadership launched me into a calling to help elevate the trajectory of others. Although I have decades of leadership experience, it took me a while to zero in on my purpose and passion and I am driven to share strategies for activating the highest levels of leadership mastery with my company, Talk Story With Me LLC. Why Talk Story With Me, you ask?

In Hawai'i, Talk Story means truly investing the time to get to know someone. You share a conversation to learn more about who the person is and what is important to them. Bringing up business before you "talk story" is poor etiquette. I gravitate to this tradition because I believe in creating relationships and not transactional business processes. MISSION

My passion is in empowering female leaders and fueling them with the knowledge and confirmation of their competence, through the truth in scripture and current evidence - to rid the feeling of being overwhelmed or faux imposter syndrome.

BIO

Dr. Marshawn Martin is a highly experienced leader who has worked in both for-profit and non-profit industries within national and international markets. Dr. Martin brings over 20 years’ experience, applying a strong expertise in data-driven strategic planning and corporate training for both sales and operations. She is the founder of the consulting company Talk Story With Me LLC and current faculty at the University of Hawai’i Hilo College of Business and Economics.

​While pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Martin’s research delved into women’s leadership competencies and the accuracy of leadership competency assumptions. Dr. Martin’s passion is in sharing these statistics to empower female leaders with the knowledge and confirmation of their contributions. Her hope is that women will lead with their natural abilities and not assume traditional traits that might have been taught. There are years of evidence to confirm what we already know; we are capable and exceptional leaders! Dr. Martin supports existing leaders and gives inspiration to developing leaders and dreamers.
